My Husband’s Mistress Sent Me a Private Video From Their Hotel Room — Not Knowing The Hotel Was Mine

Chapter 12 — Chloe’s Perfect Feed

Chloe Reed had not hidden the borrowed life; she had arranged it for applause and expected the world to clap.

That was her first gift to me, though she thought it was a crown.

The second gift was better: she had dated, captioned, and published everything herself with the confidence of someone awaiting envy.

Her public account took James less than thirty seconds to find.

One sunset balcony, one tilted chin, one mouth shaped around borrowed confidence, carefully lit and useless.

The caption under her profile picture read: Soft life only.

I felt no jealousy when I saw it, which surprised me less than expected.

Jealousy wants the man back; I wanted the records behind the photograph and the permissions beneath it.

James sat beside me in the study while I opened six months of posts.

Crown breakfast tray, Crown champagne, Crown spa robe, Crown private lift mirror, all photographed as trophies.

Crown members’ lounge, cropped badly enough to hide the crest from strangers.

But not from me, because I knew every lamp, table, reflected wall, and careless blur.

Every image carried the same little message: Look where I belong.

Except she did not belong there, and the system had always known it.

She had been carried in under Mark’s borrowed confidence, while he used mine.

The chain was ugly, but it was clean, and clean can travel through inboxes without sounding wounded.

Clean can sit before lawyers, directors, partners, and brand managers, because receipts were already attached.

I clicked a photograph from two months earlier and enlarged the reflection.

Chloe held a glass in the Crown members’ lounge, nails pale pink, as if I were examining stolen art.

Her smile was practised, her shoulder angled towards the quietest table in the room.

The caption read: When he treats you like the only woman in the world, like the room itself had chosen her.

The comments underneath were full of hearts, envy, and little fires.

Where is this place? You look expensive. Girl, he is obsessed. The fantasy was working.

Chloe had replied to one of them: Private place. He knows people.

I read that sentence twice, because arrogance had written the confession until it started looking like evidence.

Private place. He knows people. Five words, and every one useful.

Mark did know people: my family, my staff, my directors, my private channels.

He knew enough to borrow the shine, not enough to own the source or understand the account behind it.

James saved the post with date, link, screenshot, comments, and visible location markers.

“Everything public?” I asked. “Everything public,” he said, and I smiled.

Nothing stolen, nothing hacked, nothing we would need to apologise for later, and that made it beautiful.

Then I found the lift photograph, and the room became very quiet.

Chloe stood in gold light, phone covering half her face.

The Crown crest was blurred behind her shoulder, but not well enough, glowing like a failed secret.

In the reflection near her hand, one brass number remained clear.

Five.

Top floor, restricted level, not background detail but confession wearing a filter, and it was enough.

Before James could speak, a new post appeared at the top of her feed.

Live.

A close-up of dark corridor carpet, cropped around a pattern I knew instantly.

Suite 505’s floor, last night, after the door had already rejected her, the carpet Daniel had recorded.

The caption said: Some wives do not know when they have lost.

For three seconds, even James said nothing, because stupidity had become generous.

Then I laughed once, quietly, and saved the post before she could panic.

“She posted that after being denied access?” James asked, before pride could become caution.

“Yes,” I said. “She understands performance. That will be enough to ruin her.”

Chloe thought her feed proved she had risen above me, only until the right people called.

By breakfast, it had become an evidence folder she built with her own hands.
